Support Her Rights

A Circle of Respect and Empowerment

About us

A Global Movement for Women’s Respect

Support Her Rights is a global movement started by the visionary Dr. Bhartee Chavan founder of Manini Foundation and social activist. At the heart of our mission is the firm belief that every woman deserves respect and honor. Our movement took root from a simple yet profound idea; when a child is born, their mother’s name should stand proudly alongside their own. This has been our first mission in Support Her Rights Movement.

Adding Mothers' Names
to Official Forms

Dr. Chavan strongly suggests adding mothers’ names to official documents, starting with the child’s birth certificate.

She believes that the legal documents should include the child’s name along with both parents and the surname. All application forms should have four columns for names, not just three.

This small change, according to Dr. Chavan, fosters respect for mothers when their names are seen and heard regularly, acknowledging their vital role in a child’s life and ensuring they receive the recognition and rights they deserve.

Respecting Mothers

Imagine a world where a child’s identity carries the legacy of both parents, where the sacrifices and strength of a mother are woven into the very fabric of a person’s name.

The Mother’s sacrifice for the child begins the birth, it is the rebirth of the lady as during the delivery, there is a risk to her life and she willingly is ready to sacrifice her life to birth her baby. Even though the mother’s connection is first, it’s a bit ironic – at birth, the cord from the mother is cut, and then the father’s name is added.

This is more than just a symbolic gesture; it’s a step towards recognizing and honoring the vital role that women play in shaping the future and ensuring she is entitled to the rights that she deserves.

“A mother is she who can take the place of
all others but whose place no one else can take.”

Women's Rights in India's Constitutional Framework

Even though India’s Constitution promises equality for women, many still face discrimination. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who helped create the Constitution, dreamed of a fair society where gender wouldn’t hold anyone back.

But today, women especially in smaller towns are often kept from getting an education, decision-making, and have their own economic growth.

The gap between what our Constitution promises about gender equality and what actually happens is huge. For example, only 8.33% of women are in Maharashtra Lok Sabha and 14% in Rajya Sabha. And, this needs to change.

Women's Education for a Developed India

Education is crucial for our country’s growth. If we want India to be a developed country, women and men should have the same chances for education. We need to make sure that women also get an equal opportunity to knowledge and growth. Unfortunately, society has kept women away from education, economic power, and decision-making. Changing this is important for a better and fairer future for all.

Enabling Positive Change

Support Her Rights is not just a movement; it’s a collective voice championing change. We are set to redefine traditions, break stereotypes, and empower women to stand tall with the recognition they rightfully deserve. Together, let’s build a world where every child carries the strength, wisdom, and love of both parents in their name.

"When a woman safeguards another woman's respect, empowerment and transformation will happen.”

Efforts by Manini Foundation in Supporting Her Rights

“Manini” a Sanskrit word means women with self-respect and Manini Foundation, founded by Dr. Bhartee Tai is a place where every woman has the opportunity to blossom regardless of her background or environment. Having faced her own struggles within societal constraints, she understood the significance of a nurturing support system and a secure environment for growth.

Here, women come together to learn, develop, and inspire one another. It’s a safe haven where women can embrace their potential, break barriers, and create a future filled with empowerment and possibilities.

Through counselling sessions, women find a space to share their emotional and mental challenges. Additionally, health and financial education programs empower them with knowledge.

Financial literacy is a very important focus area for us. We help them learn how to handle finances for personal and business decisions. This knowledge empowers women, giving them the ability to rely on themselves and secure their future. This is a very important step in supporting her rights.

"There is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of woman is improved. It is not possible for a bird to fly on only one wing."
